Final Image
I've been wanting to use this image for a while, but it didn't fit any of the categories/criteria of the assignments. The original image was the light in the foreground reflected in a mirror. I darkened the space surrounding the lights, darkened the background, and added in the 3 lights behind the original. I feel that the image has themes of hope and emptiness. I focused on contrast (light/dark, black/white, color/no color). I used the Photoshop techniques of masks as well as copy/paste (taking an element from another image and adding it to another image). I did several other things to manipulate the image, but they were not encompassed in the photoshop techniques.
Selfie Collage
When I want to do some deep thinking or soul-searching, I often lie on my bed and stare into the dated ceiling fan that cools my room. The final edit of my selfie collage seems to portray this in the positioning of the components. The record could represent the act of thinking or it could show my appreciation of music. The Beach Boys at the top of the image also show this but they also represent the album the portrait is from. The album Pet Sounds helps me think and relax and is one of my favorite albums of all time. Some of the components in the picture are black and white because I feel that it adds a sense of elegance and intelligence to the photo. It also contrasts nicely with the vibrantly colored reflections on the record. I chose the title “White Noise” because the noise of the fan is comforting and helps me think. The collage, as a whole, more or less represents my room. I chose not to have a fifth object as the the photo feels very full and balanced as it is. I’m very happy with the end product and I believe that it is a simple but true representation of me.
